| COUPLE OF THINGS NEW FOR THIS YEAR!
ONE: the 'dirty' big ride on at Hamsterley forest June 27 - watch for more details but space is limited.
TWO I will be sorting out a twitter for durham big ride - look out for it soon. Ed |

| Looking forward to the dirty big ride, the only letdown from the durham big ride for me was the beast being cancelled, the 25mile route was fine till halfway, then the second half was to easy on the lanchester line, nice scenery out by iveston though:)
An eariler comment mentioned about the start being a little chaotic, i started near the back due to arriving later than i wanted to, and the ride out of durham to sacrison was a challenge as in trying not to hit anyone when passing. I am aware its a fun ride etc, but i think the 'slower'/'fun' riders should start behind the people doing it for a fast time/challenge |

| Hi, I was just wondering whether last year's legal technicalities have been ironed out regarding The Beast and it's crossing the A68? I am a roadie and as such have no other option but to go for the Beast (road bikes don't fair well off road!) so I was left without a ride last year at the last minute and was very disappointed as I'm sure were many others. What guarantees have been put in place to avoid the same thing happening this year?

| Sorry about the delay in getting back to the posts / comments. As you can imagine, there is a lot going on at the moment.
The beast will go ahead this year, with a few slight 'tweaks' on last year. It will be a week before the BIG RIDE and will start at one of the park and ride car parks - to keep riders away from the busy areas at the start. More details will come shortly.

| Sunday 12 September is the same day as British Superbikes at Croft... Might put quite a few people off as this is the only major motorcycle race in the NE... |
|
|
| We are finally up on twitter ( after a lots of people asked why we were not!)
@durhambigride keep up to date with these 'now and again' tweets for info and latest news. CHEERS ED |

| A BIG THANKS TO ALL who came along to make the first DIRTY big ride a great day. Sunshine, lots of great people - In fact, the day was only let down by the footy!! We will have a chat with the forest people ( who were very happy) and look to do it all again next year.

| Paul glad you came along - good day was had by all(until the match!)
I took a couple of pics which I will get up on site as soon as but.. you may well have seen someone taking video of the day. We hope to get a couple of mins from him for the site and Alex - from forestry commission - had a camera on his bike as he went round so that should be coming soon. Cheers Ed |

| Hi,
Is the durham big ride on facebook or is it just twitter?
I want to arrange some kind of transport to durham with another rider close by if that's possible. :) |
|
|
| YES! indeed we are now on both twitter (@durhambigride) and facebook
and just search durhambigride on facebook |
|
|
| Well I cant decide this year, do i pay to enter the big ride and enjoy the 25 miles - or do it for free but have to ride a St John Response bike around the 25 miles. HMMMM What do you think Ed? |
|
|
| ANDREW, I know you are having sleepless nights about this problem so let me offer a solution....Why don't you 'do' the Beast on a light bike and then 'do' your bit for the st. johns and ride the 25 the following week on the heavy St. John's bike. As that rat on the telly says "SIMPLES". Ride organiser, deal maker, agony uncle - is there anything I can't do? Ride a bike for 50 miles is the easy answer to that one!:)
Cheers

| Hi,
What time do you recomend getting to County Hall?
And, will there be portloos or toilets available?? |
|
|
| Im planning on entering the beast.
but I wanted to try the route before hand, but I can find no information on where it starts. Ive googled durham county hall, and apparently it doesnt exist. Anyone help? Ive printed a map, but as I dont know the area I have no idea where anything is |

That is the link to the EXACT location of Durham City Hall. There is a big sign outside of it too.
Use the map to scan the area around DCH and get your bearings. |
